Second Annual Hip Hop Boot Camp
Alien Arts Inc. is an Ohio-based non-profit organization with a mission to inspire, nurture and teach youth grades K-12 through the performing arts channels of music and dance.
Understanding the researched and documented positive outcomes of music in the lives of youth, Alien Arts gives the participants opportunities to explore the performing arts and attend educational workshops to both learn and eventually showcase their talents at an affordable cost. Using the vehicle of hip-hop culture, Alien Arts creates a space to ignite creativity and provide support and tools for emotional and cognitive growth as well as doing work toward the social change they desire to see.
Following COVID-19 guidelines, Alien Arts will be hosting its second Annual Hip Hop Boot Camp on July 3, 2021, at Hardesty Park, co-sponsored by The City of Akron. Free to the community, attendees will be able to learn a bit about the history of Alien Arts and positive hip-hop culture, hear from speakers, and enjoy live entertainment by local dance and performing artists and DJs.
It takes the whole community to support the next generation to be their greatest selves. For 2021, the Alien Arts goal is to raise $5,000 to cover tuition for the Hip Hop Boot Camp and related fees for 50 young artists from Akron, Ohio. Any additional funds raised will go toward programming, which includes helping improve literacy skills, supporting the development of social and emotional wellness tools, and accessing and developing their creative skills via the aforementioned channels.
